SE VIENE!
Ya es oficial. Hace unos días se dio a conocer la noticia del lanzamiento del nuevo disco de SODOM y también se anunció la fecha en la que saldrá a la venta. Además se pudo ver la nueva portada, aunque no sé si se trató de una filtración y por eso la calidad no era la esperada. Pero hoy, nueve de Abril (2025), todo es definitivo e incluso ha empezado la preventa del álbum.
Este nuevo disco de estudio (el decimosexto, según mis cuentas) se llamará THE ARSONIST. Saldrá el próximo veintisiete de Junio (2025), a través de STEAMHAMMER, y la formación volverá a ser la que ya apareció en el anterior GENESIS XIX (2020). No es que este grupo haya estado desocupado mientras tanto, precisamente, ya que ha habido giras y han salido reediciones, recopilaciones y EP's, pero el caso es que ése ha sido el último disco de estudio como tal de Sodom. Estamos hablando de TOM ANGELRIPPER (voz y bajo), FRANCK BLACKFIRE (guitarra), YORCK SEGATZ (guitarra) y TONI MERKEL (batería). La portada, bastante bélica, es de un artista polaco llamado ZBIGNIEW BIELAK.
Y no sé más, aparte de los nombres de las canciones (parece que trece). Además, el grupo ha colgado uno de esos vídeos con letras de uno de los temas, TRIGGER DISCIPLINE. Lo he escuchado por encima y me ha molado bastante, para sorpresa de nadie.

It is official now. A few days ago the news came out about SODOM's new album and its release date was also announced. There were pictures of the front cover as well, although I'm not sure whether that was some kind or leaking or not and that was why the quality of the images was not the expected one. But today, April the 9th (2025), everything is final and the pre-orde of the album has begun.
This new studio record (the sixteenth, if I'm correct) will be titled THE ARSONIST. It will hit the shelves the next 27th of June, through STEAMHAMMER, and the lineup will be the same that recorded the previous GENESIS XIX (2020). Not that this band hasn't been busy in between, for there has been some touring and also reissues, compilations and EP's, but that was the last proper studio album Sodom have released. We are talking about TOM ANGELRIPPER (vocals and bass guitar), FRANCK BLACKFIRE (guitar), YORCK SEGATZ (guitar) and TONI MERKEL (drums). The very warlike front cover has been drawn by an artist from Poland called ZBIGNIEW BIELAK.
And that's all I know, besides the titles of the songs (it looks like thirteen). The band has also posted one of those usual lyric videos of one of the songs, TRIGGER DISCIPLINE. I have listened to it without paying the proper attention, but, to no one's surprise, I have enjoyed so far.
